How do I sign up for the Portal?
If you are a registered apprentice or sponsor and have a SkilledTradesBC ID, please contact Customer Service to have an email invitation sent to you with instructions and a link to activate your Portal account.
If you are a new apprentice or organization staff member and do not have a SkilledTradesBC ID yet, simply create an account on the SkilledTradesBC Portal to start the process.
I currently use Direct Access. When will I receive access to the Portal?
If you are currently an apprentice or sponsor who has registered with us before and have a SkilledTradesBC ID, please contact Customer Service to have an email invitation sent to you with instructions and a link to activate your Portal account.
Please note that those with training provider and school district profiles do not yet have access to the Portal and remain on DirectAccess at this time.
I have not received the SkilledTradesBC portal invitation link yet. What can I do?
If you are an active apprentice or sponsor with a valid SkilledTradesBC ID, please contact Customer Service by phone or email to be sent the invitation email with an activation link.
I am not able to use my email address while registering for the SkilledTradesBC Portal. What can I do?
To sign up for the SkilledTradesBC Portal, you must use a unique email address. If your email is already linked to another account, activate your account by clicking the link provided in the invitation sent to your registered email address.

Can I continue using Direct Access after I have received an invitation email to access the SkilledTradesBC Portal?
Once the SkilledTradesBC Portal invitation is sent to your email, your access to Direct Access will automatically be deactivated and you must sign up for the SkilledTradesBC Portal. This ensures that your data is carefully transitioned to a new platform and ensures your information is in one place.
How do I register to become an apprentice via the SkilledTradesBC Portal?
If you are an active apprentice with a valid SkilledTradesBC ID and have activated your Portal account, log into your account to start the process.
If you do not have a SkilledTradesBC ID yet, begin the process by creating a Portal account.

How do I register my organization as a Sponsor through the SkilledTradesBC Portal?

As a sponsor, how do I register my new apprentice through the SkilledTradesBC Portal?
To register your apprentice, log into your Portal account and navigate to Registrations in the menu.
Click the “+ New Registration” button and have your apprentice’s SkilledTradesBC ID ready in order to complete your request.
How do I change the sponsor for my apprentice through the SkilledTradesBC Portal?
Once you have logged into the Portal, navigate to the Registrations section.
- Click the “+ Change Sponsor for an Apprentice” button.
- Select the organization if you have multiple accounts linked to your email address.
- Locate the apprentice using their SkilledTradesBC ID and last name. Select the program for which you would like to become the sponsor of the selected apprentice.
- Confirm to initiate the change request.
How do I gain access to the SkilledTradesBC Portal to report apprenticeship hours for my apprentice?
If your role is to simply report apprenticeship hours on behalf of a sponsor, you can create an Authorized Staff account.
If you have not registered with SkilledTradesBC before, start by creating an account on the Portal and select the option to “Sign up as an authorized staff to report work-based training hours”.
Once you have successfully signed up and received a SkilledTradesBC ID, you can gain access by completing the Add-Remove Staff form or by having your organization’s primary contact add you as a staff member on the Portal using your SkilledTradesBC ID.

I received a notification stating that my apprenticeship is no longer linked to a sponsor. Is it possible to have my remaining work-based training hours logged into my account?
If you have any remaining work-based training hours to be reported by your previous sponsor, they can still submit them through the SkilledTradesBC Portal within three months of the sponsor removal.
Alternatively, you may have your new sponsor submit the hours on behalf of your previous sponsor. Please note that it is at your sponsor's discretion how they wish to verify the hours you have worked and how many hours they will ultimately report.

The invitation link sent to me isn’t working. What can I do?
The invitation link sent to you is valid for 10 days so your link may have expired.
Follow the steps below to retrieve the invitation link:
- Click on the invitation link sent to your email address.
- Click Redeem.
- You will receive the following message – “Portal invitation has expired. Resend invitation?”
- Click Resend Invitation.
How can I set up a strong password?
To ensure security of your account and a strong password, it must meet the following criteria:
- Must not contain your SkilledTradesBC ID or first three characters of your first or last name
- Must be at least 14 characters in length
- Must contain characters from all four categories:
- English uppercase characters (A through Z)
- English lowercase characters (a through z)
- Base numbers (digits between 0 and 9)
- Special characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
How can I retrieve my password?
If you have forgotten your password, click on “Forgot your Password?” on the sign-in page. Enter your registered email address and a password reset link will be sent to your email address.
Can I change my email address?
To update your registered email address, you must contact Customer Service. Email addresses cannot be updated through the Portal.
Why am I locked out of my account?
After 5 unsuccessful login attempts, users are locked out of their SkilledTradesBC Portal for 15 minutes before they are able to try their password again.
If a user is locked out of their account over 5 times within a day, they will be required to contact Customer Service to reset their password.
I do not see the option to submit a Trade Qualifier Application on my Portal account. Should I create a new account on the Portal?
This may be because your account may not have been created with the correct user type. Please contact Customer Service for assistance.
