Create a SkilledTradesBC Portal Account
- Go to https://portal.skilledtradesbc.ca/Account/Login/Register to start creating your account.
- Select one of the following options for Sponsors and/or Employers and click “Proceed” to continue:
- Register my organization as a sponsor – Select this if you are a new sponsor and want to register your organization and set up a Portal account with SkilledTradesBC.
- Sign up as authorized staff to submit Work-based Training Hours or manage my organization’s Portal account – Select this if your organization already has a Portal account and you want to be added as an authorized user to submit work-based training hours for apprentices.
- Register my organization as employer in Skilled Trades Certification trades (compulsory trades) – Select this if you employ (but do not sponsor) workers in the compulsory trades.
- Complete all fields and click on the “Register” button to continue.
- Read through the terms and conditions for your application. Then, check “I agree to these terms and conditions” and click “I agree” to continue.
- Once your profile is created, you will receive a confirmation email from SkilledTradesBC containing an activation link. Click on this link to activate your account and return to Portal. Your account is now set up.
Reset a Forgotten Portal Password
- To reset your password, click the “Forgot Your Password?” link on the Sign in page.
- Enter the email address you used to sign up for a SkilledTradesBC Portal account and click “Send”.
- You will receive an email from SkilledTradesBC with a link to reset your password. Click this link to continue.
- After being redirected to the Portal, you will be prompted to reset your password.
Important: If you previously had a Direct Access account with SkilledTradesBC but haven't logged in to the Portal, you need to reactivate your access. Please contact Customer Service for assistance.
The Portal uses a security measure where an account will be locked out for 60 minutes after 5 unsuccessful login attempts. Once the 60-minute lockout period ends, you can either try your password again or choose to reset it.
Portal Navigation and Key Features
My Profile
After logging in, you will be directed to a Profile Summary page displaying your personal information. To update your information or password, click the “Edit” button located on the right side of the screen.
Note: To change your name, date of birth and email address, you will need to contact Customer Service or request through the “My Sponsor Inquiries” feature on the Portal.
Notifications
View any notifications from SkilledTradesBC that require your attention or action in this section.
My Organizations
Find a list of your registered organizations under the My Organizations section. Click on the name of the organization you want to manage.
For each organization, you can view basic information such as your Sponsor ID, sector, role, and sponsor tax credit reports.
You can also view a list of your apprentices, authorized staff members, and your completed or pending Employer Workforce Submission.
Work-Based Training Hours
The Work-Based Training Hours section allows you to add work-based training hours to your apprentices either by filling out the form or completing a bulk upload if you have multiple apprentices.
My Activities
Under the My Activities tab, you can:
- Create a request for Document Replacement for you or your apprentices (e.g., Certificate of Qualification Wall Certificate, Sign Off Authority Letter, Exception Permit Letter).
- Create a Sponsor Inquiry or request to our Customer Service team.
- View the My Tasks section, which allows our Customer Service team to assign you tasks and reminders for important deadlines.
- Create an Organization allows you to add a new organization to your sponsor Portal account.
Registrations
Register a new apprentice you are sponsoring or change a sponsor for your apprentice in this section. You can also view pending and processed registrations here.
